Excessive consumption

Excessive consumption is defined as such when the reading in the primary water meter in the compound / the water meter associated with the property displays consumption which exceeds the normal.

What are the reasons for excess water consumption?

There is a wide variety of possible reasons, including but not limited to: a change in the number of residents at the property, a change in the water consumption habits, seasons of the year, open/concealed leakage and more.

Submission of an application to recognize excess consumption.

Insofar as a leakage has been identified in the private property / joint compound, an application may be submitted to recognize excess consumption deriving from leakage, insofar as the following provisions of the law are met:

The laws of water and sewage corporations (standards and parameters of service) 2011 regarding recognition of excess consumption deriving from leakage:

  • An application to recognize excess consumption deriving from leakage may be submitted up to half a year from the end of the first charge period for which recognition of the leakage is requested.
  • Recognition of the leakage and adaptation of the charge in accordance with the leakage rate will be performed for two charge periods at most.
  • Recognition of the leakage will be performed in cases where the water consumption in the reported period exceeds the average consumption in the property/compound by over 150%.
  • Recognition of leakage in a private water meter / water meter associated with the property, will be provided for no more than two cases of leakage per year – to transfer to the form press here
  • Recognition of a leakage in a shared / main water meter, will be provided for no more than one case of leakage a year, and this is on the condition no leakage has been recognized in the 12 months prior to the date of the submission of the application to transfer to the form press here
